She took it pretty hard - Yanks lost the opener against Baltimore. BUT -- Cubs Win! Cubs Win! So not a bad day after all.
It was a very long day for me. I had to take Mae in for her checkup, and it was actually SNOWING! Her appointment was at 1:45 so I had to wake her up from her nap and feed her - and get her out the door to get there on time.
They weighed and measured her. She's changed quite a bit. It use to be that she was in the 90+ percentile for weight - but today she was in the 96th percentile for HEIGHT! And only around the 50 percentile for weight. I'm going to teach her how to shoot hoops - or maybe how to bump / set / spike!
The best part of the appointment came when the doctor told me he had to give her TWO shots - and they would be the most painful ones of the series she's had. He warned me that she probably would SCREAM her head off for the first one - and the second one would be worse. Okay. Let's do this thing!
Mae was naked - except for her diaper - sitting on my lap. She held my hand and looked at the doctor as if to say, "who are you - and why are you here?" I could smell the rubbing alcohol being applied - I knew what was coming but I couldn't watch - I just held Mae's hand. Then -- nothing. No sound.
The doctor was AMAZED -- he looked at HER as if to say, "Who are you - and why are YOU here!"...
Next shot - I could smell the rubbing alcohol again - I couldn't watch - I held her hand - I felt her flinch just a little - then - a small mutter about about something - then nothing! The doctor was again amazed - said she's the toughest little girl in the neighborhood.
Imagine that -- my little girl...
I love her more than 32 ounce Old Styles at Wrigley Field.
