Fall All Around

I was hoping to get out under the moon to take a few photos this weekend, but there are just too many things going on - and even though I'm getting a little more sleep, I just feel beat in the evening. I'll try to get out next month, but it'll probably be January before I get out - which is okay; January is a rocking great month for night photography.

I'm sitting on the couch waiting for my turn to feed Baby Mae. I'm watching a great documentary (for about the 12th time) - What Remains - Sally Mann. I adore her work, and I subscribe to her basic notions of photography - shoot what you know, and - you can find great images right in your own backyard. One of my best friends and I have an ongoing discussion surrounding this topic - he thinks he needs to pack up the car and get away somewhere for a few weeks in order for the photography muses to show him the way. (Personally, I think he does INCREDIBLE work right in his own backyard - I think he'd be lost elsewhere - but don't tell him I said that!)

I have to admit, I waffle during our discussions -- there are times when I'm convinced I need to pack up a few cameras and a bag full of film and head back to Havana - or to some faraway place -- but then I realize that some of my most favorite images were taken within a 10 mile radius of home. (But Havana -- oh Havana - the place that changed me forever...)

I think I'll drag out the view camera to see what I see... I have a new model - in case you missed the news...

Have a wonderful weekend!
