Thin Air

The moon has reached that magical point I long for each month - just about 75% illumination. If it's clear tonight, I'll be out in it. If not, this weekend should be superb light. John and I are heading out together - always fun - and always makes for interesting photos -- stay tuned.

I'm contemplating adding a gallery page. Flickr is cool - but I have several sheets of negs I'd like to scan and put together in some logical sequence to tell a story. Flickr lets me put together sets - but it's just not the same as having a single gallery for a specific subject. I just have lots of images I'd like to show without having to show them to you one at a time -- so -- I'm thinking it through.

It's Friday! I wanted to share an article I read in last week's NY Times - written by Michael Lewis. Those who know me, know I don't watch much TV - and I spend very little time reading the paper or magazines (unless they have lots of photos - or articles about dogs and/or birds) - so this was purely a serendiptious find for me last Sunday... I DO read lots of books - and I've always been of the opinion that we do not find books, they find us -- I'd say the same about this particular article.

What I like about it is the local perspective Michael gives us - the local skinny - the 'here's what's really happening' view of New Orleans after Katrina. Read it - see if you come away with the same feeling. I'm going to send Michael a note of thanks -- the article made me smile -- and restored my faith in all of us as human beings... (with the exception of the government types :-) )

Enjoy your weekend - I know I will! (Note to Orbit Girls: make your choice of muffins NOW - don't wait until Sunday morning and say, 'What do they have?'... I'd like to get them sometime before noon :-) )

Listening to: I knew you were waiting (for me) - Aretha Franklin
