North China Lover
The North China Lover - One of my most favorite books in the world - written by Marguerite Duras - simply beautiful. The movie is fantastic, too. She's a fantastic writer - she's written quite a few books. Find the time and read one. It's Friday in the UK - so that means I can post up my Friday shot now. I love this one. I took it while in Puerto Rico. I think it was either Ryan at Light Tight, or Keith at Overshadowed who once said to me, 'If you see Red - shoot it'. I never forgot that - never. If you look back through a year's worth of images on No Traces, you'll see lots of instances of just 'shooting red'. I'm a believer. Thanks guys. I remembered this piece of advice while in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Pam and I stopped in at a little cantina for something cold to drink (guess what?) --- I also took the opportunity to find 'Los Bano' - I apologize to my Latin American friends for screwing up the spelling or the proper usage... Anyway, I stepped out into this darkened little area - like an atrium - it was one of the few times I felt as though I was back in Cuba. I looked up - and saw this beautiful RED lamp -- and the soft light shining through the slats -- I could only wonder what was up there... I'll never know, but I was intrigued. It's Friday - one day away from No Traces' big birthday bash (guess what the drink of choice will be? :-) ) --- I'll leave you with the quote I'm looking at on my Zen Calendar... What do you want to get enlightened for? You may not like it. -Shunryu Suzuki Think about it... Have a fabulous weekend. Spring is here for most of us. Fall for those down-under - either way - it's a beautiful time of year to JUST BE. Listening to: When I Look to the Sky - Train |
