John took this image of me awhile back. Like most photographers, I find it hard to look at pics of myself - or let people take them of me. Dunno why - just is.
I didn't like this one at first - the color isn't that great - and I'm doing something funny with my mouth (probably telling John to take the lens cap off) - but after some time went by I thought it was okay - especially given the fact it was shot in VERY low light, at f/1.2 - handheld. Not bad. Nice job JP.
It's Monday. I have a crazy busy week in front of me. I'm re-engaged at work. I love what I do, but there are times when I just have to shut my brain down - and there are times when I have to be very focused. For the past several weeks, I've been focused - and will continue to be until about July. The good thing is I seem to have found a nice balance between photography and work. So there shouldn't be much disruption in my posting. I will be posting a few images from other photographers - this one being the first. Not because I don't have images of my own (I have about 200 images on negs that need to be scanned!), but because I really like the images and want to show them to you. Actually - it's only two images coming up...

I spent an incredible amount of time learning how to print with my Epson 2200 yesterday. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out the RIGHT way to print. My first image was too purple (forgot to turn off color management in the print driver), the second image was too green (can't remember what I did to remedy that issue) -- the next few prints were okay - but have some banding on the edges... So - I still don't have a decent image -- but I'm getting there.
I went to bed and read a few books on color management and digital printing. I think I have a good idea of what I did wrong (soft proofing for the paper/ink/printer combo - and making adjustments - is key)...
I will say it was cool to see my images in the physical world - something I've not done, other than a few snaps from the local lab. I'm looking forward to printing on 13 x 19 paper - that should be awesome - if I can just get it right...
If you have any tips - send them along! I could use them!
Enjoy your week -- may you have a non-stressful Monday...
