The Camera Eye

It's raining here in Chicago. A gloomy day. A perfect day to process and scan film (in between folding laundry). I made this image a little more than 30 years ago. It's one of the first images I made with my Nikon Nikkormat - a camera I still use to this day. I remember seeing this slide for the first time - it was then I fell in love with the camera eye - an extension of my own. A perfect depiction of life around me. Today, scanning this slide for the first time (I thought I lost the slide long ago - but it somehow showed up just a few days ago during a cleaning frenzy - funny how things like that happen), and then seeing the image on screen, I realized the photo funk was behind me.
