No Place Like Home

I've worked in the graphics/high-tech arena all my life, but still - I get annoyed with computers and everything that goes along with them. I finally decided to upgrade my system. I wanted to create a real digital darkroom - and I think I've done quite well at building things out. I turned everything on today and everything worked - except for my dang external hard drive. The tech support guy treated me as if I were a moron (I work for one of the largest tech companies in the world - and I do know a thing or two about firewire and how a freakin' hard drive works!)... I finally just hung up on him and sent the the thing back. He basically told me that my nice new shiny dual G5 might have a bad firewire port -- wrong answer... OR -- the cable may be bad (but they won't send out a new one to test) - OR -- the drive itself may be bad --- all answers did nothing but irritate me. But guess what? I ordered yet ANOTHER drive from the same company (only a smaller version this time - still firewire 800 - I want to prove that freakin' port works!)... I know, I know -- what the hell does this have to do with photography? Guess what? These days -- everything... digital has arrived -- and it's as frustrating to me as trying to figure out how to properly set the flash on my Nikkormat so I don't blow out my dogs face!... Whether you're shooting digital -- or scanning film -- everything is digital -- may as well get used to it.

Oh -- New Moon today! -- That means we're at about 1% illumination at the moment -- and the FULL MOON rolls around on the 23rd. John? Are you ready Big Guy? We're staying out until the wee hours... I'm determined to bring back a bunch of cool new keepers... Everyone -- get your cameras ready!
