Ying and Yang

I'm very tired - I had a very long and wonderful weekend. I'm very happy I have tomorrow off - I need some rest... I'm posting this image for a few reasons -- first, it's more than a little underexposed in most of the frame -- mainly because the moon decided to pop out as I was taking the exposure, which caused one side of the frame to be very bright - and the other dark. Secondly, this is not my best image, for sure -- but what I like about this frame is the fact that it's probably the most representative of what it's REALLY like out there at night under a full moon. It's a surreal feeling at times. When the moon shines through it's just amazing, but can play havoc with what you're trying to do...

I exposed the image for 249 seconds at f/11 ISO100 -- I probably should have exposed it for nearly 500 seconds -- but had I done that, the whole left side of the image would've been blown out because of my inclusion of the moon. I was just experimenting - as I tell everyone who writes me to do the same -- experiment -- it's fun -- and if you're using a digital slr - you get to see your results in just a few moments...
