Fish Ice

For those of you who remember a previous entry titled Eye Chart, the sign you see in this frame will look somewhat familiar. I went out last night to take a few images. The temperature gauge in my truck read -1F ( -18C). The weatherman said with windchill, I'd be freezing my ass off in -20 to -25F temps. Is that dedication, or what? Oh - yeah - insanity - forgot about that one. Hey, at least I had fun!

I was going to post a follow on image to the pier post I put up yesterday - that will have to wait. I wanted to post this one - I really like it. I did get a little nervy and ventured out on the ice to get this shot. Were it summer, my camera and I would have been in about 6 feet of water. Fortunately, Lake Michigan is frozen solid around the edges - as you can see from this image. I wouldn't trust the ice much further beyond this point - so this is as good as it gets.

Exposure: 132 seconds at f/7.1 ISO100 15mm

Thankfully, it's Friday. Take a friend to lunch - and be in the moment. Leave your worries behind - and really share your thoughts. Have a great weekend!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!: Dave from Chromasia made a curious comment about this image -- I thought he was joking -- but he cleared things up for me - just take a look at THIS. Sorry it's such a large file -- I'm not feelling so good at the moment, and don't feel up to messing about with the image -- Thanks, Dave - for scaring the bajeebies out of me! I think it'll be awhile before I go back out there all by myself!
