Firmly Planted

I thought I'd have more time to do STUFF once Mae started school. So far, that's not working out for me. The mom's all warned me that the time frame Mae is in school (9-11:30) goes by so FAST -- they said I'd have time to take a shower, maybe clean up the breakfast dishes, and then it would be time to go get Mae. They were right. The time goes by oh so quickly.

That wouldn't be so bad if that's all I had to do in the domestic realm. Instead, I usually have to load Mae in the car and head off to pick up her big sister around 3:30. Then it's home for snack - make sure homework gets started - maybe a little play / bonding time for the sisters -- and - then - suddenly it's dinner time -- followed by bath time - followed by story time -- followed by hugs and kisses -- followed by ---- ah, yes --- sleep -- and maybe a few hours quiet time for mom and dad... (rinse and repeat the next day)...

I'm not complaining. Nope. I got off really easy the first time around with my first three daughters. I traveled the world - did my business thing - expected dinner on the table (when I made it home in time) - and participated in family events when I thought it was convenient for ME. Oh man -- if only I could turn the clock back and make it all right... I can't.

So - I willingly give of myself to do my part - which is to raise two happy little girls. Insulate them from the troubles of the world when I can - and point out the wonders all around wherever possible. What I realize now, that I failed to realize before, is the time goes FAST - very fast. Enjoy the here - the now - before it all fades away...
