I'd be amiss if I didn't mention my wife - who art directed this photo. She has a thing for macaroons. So much so that we had a good friend bring some back from Paris -- they had to be bought the day of departure because they are incredibly fresh and will go stale within days; they are at their finest during the first few days of life.
So - we were out walking Mae last weekend at one of our favorite places - when I spied a little shop tucked away in a corner. I'd seen it before but I'd never examined the goods. There they were - on the top shelf of the cooling cabinet - MACAROONS! Not the cheap pretenders - nope - the real deal. The owners are from Montreal by way of Paris -- so they are in the macaroon know...
I bought nine. That's about 50 dollars of macaroon goodness. A macaroon party ensued at our house and what you see here is what was left - just long enough to take the photo - then - GONE...
They were soooo good... Oh so good...
