I love mornings with Mae. She's nine month's old. She's bright. She's funny. She's like a sponge - soaking in life. I've been with her almost every day of her life, and I hope to be with her for many more. It's just so fun to watch her grow. It's amazing to teach her something new - and then to see her actually use the knowledge to figure something out.
I was thinking today that raising a child really is a full-time job - but unlike any job I've ever known. There's no monetary reward. The reward comes with the satisfaction in knowing that I'm making a difference in her life. In knowing that everything I do will help shape her future and hopefully give her the skills and tools she needs to be a good person - that is, if I do my job right.
It's the weekend. Enjoy it. Watch for the birds -- they are flocking now -- getting ready to fly to their winter homes.
