Lainey is settling in quite well here in Toronto. I'm actually amazed by how resilient she is. She's traveled a lot of miles with me over the years, and she never seems to complain - just as long as she's with me, she seems to be happy. She began her journey in Manchester England four years ago - and now finds herself in yet another new country where they talk funny. Poor girl. At least we have each other. That's all that counts, right?

Enjoy your weekend. We're heading out to have dinner with some of my most favorite people. I'm hoping we'll figure out a way to get back to Cuba (I believe the Ivory-billed Woodpecker exists somewhere deep in the eastern mountainous forests of Cuba - and I want to find one!) - I learn so much about birds when I'm around these guys -- and laugh myself silly in the process.
