Zafar

There I was, walking along Queen Street - taking a few photos of nothing special - when I found myself in front of a place called International Radio & TV. It was hard not to notice the sign - another sign, just like so many others along Queen Street. I liked the store front. I liked what I saw in the window - old electronic gadgets - stereos, radios, and such. I thought I'd take a quick shot of the store sign and the window, then, be on my way. As I was taking the second photo, I noticed a gentleman suddenly appear in my viewfinder. I took a quick shot and thought I'd move along.

"What kind of camera do you have there? Looks like an old film camera", he said. I told him it was a film camera, but not very old at all. I handed it over to him. He knew immediately that it was a rangefinder, and knew where they were manufactured. I was happy I didn't just walk away after taking the photo.

He told me to come into the store, he had some things he wanted to show me. Long story short, I walked out with a great OLD camera - in perfect working condition. We talked about our collections, and I tried to talk him into selling me one camera in particular - one I had once upon a time, but in a weak moment - sold. He said he'd keep me in mind if he ever decided to part with it... damn.

Before I left, I asked if I could take one more quick photo with him in the frame. He hesitated - but agreed. I hurried the shot - I could tell he didn't like to be in front of the lens - just like me. Thanks, Zafar - it was great to meet you!
