I finally broke out an old lens I've had laying around for quite some time. The lens dates back to the 40's some time. It's so old that there's no flash socket, so I have to use available light and sort of guess at exposure times. Not a real problem for me, I've done my fair share of guessing at long exposures. For this one, the meter gave me a reading of about 1 second at f/16 (ISO100 b&w Polaroid film). I went with 10 seconds to take in account a few things. Not bad for the only shot I took all weekend.
Someone I love writes about her favorite things each day. I thought I'd share with you a few of my own favorite things. Each item in this photo has special meaning to me. I've always collected things since I was very young, but I've been pretty selective as to what I keep.
Here you see a leaf in the middle. The last time Ali was here, that leaf was on my doorstep when I came back from dropping her off at the airport. I keep it next to the door - waiting for her return. The stone you see to the right is from my summer vacation in northern Ontario - the best vacation I've ever had. The white rock I picked up last week near the pier I love to photograph - the only rock visible in the snow. The wasp nest came from the side of my house. Each year there is a family of wasps that come to visit. I don't bother them, they don't bother me. It's a reminder to me that a house is just a house - and it's really the family that makes a harmonious home.
I'm happy I have tomorrow off. I may get out to take a few photographs and ponder.
