The lights in our neighborhood went out tonight. Very strange feeling to be without electricity and no connection to the outside world. I was reminded of the first night I spent in Havana. A group of us went for a walk after dark through the park across from our hotel. The park was good size, like most city parks - but the odd thing was there were hardly any lights in the entire park; just a few scattered here and there. Still, people were having a great time - just socializing. I'm not talking about 4 or 5 people, I'm talking hundreds. Imagine that. Socializing. No one talking on mobile phones. Just people interested in one another, and nothing else.
I'm happy the lights went out. I needed the reminder.
Have a great weekend. Give film a try, if you get the chance.
