Shinigami

I'm reading a book - Detours - it somehow found its way into my hands last night -- while it was raining out, keeping me from riding my motorcycle. I've said this before - books find us - we don't find them. Somehow they just know when we're in need of a good story to give us perspective and grounding. Detours is just such a book.

On the surface, it may appear to be a book about motorcycles - that would explain how I gravitated to it - but cruising past the first chapter, I quickly realized the story is one I share with the author. It's not about the motorcycle - it's not even about the ride - it's about shedding a skin that should have been shed long ago - but for one reason or another - the author (and I) just never got around to it -- until later in life - an important thing to do in order to move forward and enjoy what's left of life here on earth.

I'm almost finished with the book - but I have to clean up my bachelor pad first. It's going to rain most of the day so there's no real temptation for me to get out there and ride - I just need to get the place at least presentable.

Enjoy your weekend - I'm hoping for some sunshine tomorrow - I have an itching to take a few photos...
