I love books. Picture books were my first love, of course. Then I learned to read. What a wonderful thing, huh? We can look at marks on a page and make sense of it all. Those little marks can take us to faraway places, they can soothe our soul, they can make us happy, they can teach of things we never knew before. The written word is enormously powerful.
I remember someone once told me, "We don't find books; books find us". I didn't really understand this until later in life, and now, I know that person was so right. How many times have you walked through a bookstore -- or browsed books at a garage sale -- and found THE book that turned out to be one of the best reads of your life? Or helped you in some way? Happens to me all the time.
During my recent holiday, I took along the book you see in this photo. I saw it at the bookstore in hardcover - thought it looked good, but I didn't want to pay full price for it. A day later, my book club sent me a sale flyer -- the same book, but in paperback. I ordered it, it arrived just in time for my trip. I think I read it in two nights. I'm thankful it found me. It helped me - a lot - to get through this last week.
I'd like to say that I also believe that images find us - we don't find them. Today's Fav is a fine example...
Have a wonderful weekend. Thanks again for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers.
